I think Zero and Stanley's relationship is not very strong. Zero never smiles while digging his hole, not even when he's done, he just spat in it.(pg.37) It's like Zero suprises everybody, he comes out of no where and scares Stanley while he's reading a letter from his parents.(pg. 75-76) Stanley usally announces that he's here. Stanley always is hurt digging holes, his hands have blisters every day, he groans and groans and Zero keeps his mouth shut and spits in his hole every time he's done. Well, Stanley and Zero are very different people.

Stanley and Zero's relationship continues to grow as the story unfolds. They started out not talking or interacting with each other in the beginning of the book. There was a turning point in the story when Stanley took the fall for stealing the sunflower seeds (p. 96). This is also when Stanley found out that Zero actually stole the shoes which put him at Camp Green Lake. They made an agreement. Stanley offered to teach Zero how to read and Zero offered to dig a lot of his holes. The friendship of Stanley and Zero began to grow at this point in time.

Zero and Stanley's relationships are strong and week in different parts of the book. It all started when they didn't even bother to talk to each other or even go by each other, they were new to each other. They finally realized each other when the trouble came. Aparently, Stanley took the blame for stealing the sunflower seeds,(p. 96)Then Stanley found out that Zero stole the shoes which actually got him sent into camp green lake. So, so far the relationships between the two of them are not a good start. But after the big axcident happened, Stanley and Zero had came up with a solution. Stanley would show zero how to read and zero would have to dig some of Stanley's wholes. Their friendship is growing a little bit every day. It all started when the little bit of trouble.
