On the top of page 38, Noah says that his father once told him that 'fighting is for people who can't win with their brains'. What do you think Noah's father is trying to tell him?

When Noah's father says, "Fighting is for people who can't win with their brains," I think he was saying that people who can't use words or smart compromizes are the ones who will hit or fight to try to prove their points. For example, when Jasper Jr. found Noah Jasper Jr. punched and spit on Noah, and Noah didn't punch or spit Jasper Jr. back. Noah used his brain to "win" the fight by staying calm and casting his line after Jasper Jr. left in his boat. I think FLUSH will be about using brains to win your battles.

Very nice post Nathan! You made a nice point and also made a prediction about the novel. I also like how you pulled an example from the text to support your opinion. Since you are pulling examples from the story, I am going to show you how to put page numbers in your posting. It is always good to show the reader where you are getting your information.

I agree with Nathan. I think that Noah "won" the fight with Jasper Jr. by using his brain instead of using violence. He was able to stay calm and relax by casting his line in the water to fish. I think that it is also important to know when to just "walk away" and be the better person. I think that reading Flush will be good for all of us.

I think Noah's dad is trying to tell him that smart people can win by thinking instead of having to punch and fight. I think he is trying to say talk instead of fight because you can do it more safely and the person will want to do what you want instead of being forced if you punch. That is what I think Noah's dad is trying to tell him.

This is a really great post Matt! You have an introduction (your opinion) a detail to support it, and a conclusion! Next time, let's add another detail; so you will have two details to support your opinion.

I think Noah's is tryingto tell him that fighting doesn't solve anything.People that fight are ones who are not able to think about and find a logical solution to a problem.Jasper Jr tried to hitn Noah, called him dirty names, and spit in his face. The only time Noah's father would approve of fighting ,is if he was defending himself from morons.

Great post Gage. I love how you added an example from the story to help support your opinion. My suggestion for future posts would be to proof read your post BEFORE you submit it. Remember, you can always write your response in a WORD document and then copy and paste it to the blog. Keep up the good work!

When Noah's father says "Fighting is for people who can't win their brains." I think it means fighting is not so smart because it is just making it worse.
